Location: The Salvation Army Gainesville Corps

About this opportunity:

Plans and administers the business, financial, social services, and administrative departments while assisting Corps Officer’s in all functions of daily business, budgetary, and other operations; coordinates human resource functions for employees; prepares for all audits for programs; assumes additional responsibilities in the absence of the Corps Officer.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation and oversight of multiple budgets for programs; oversees and participates in the preparation of agency and program budgets, budget revisions, and long and short-term financial projections, including preparation of cash flow projections and cash flow management.
  • Basic bookkeeping and financial reporting. Deposits, accounts payable and monthly reporting duties as directed by the Corps Officer, Area Command and DHQ processes.
  • Provides the Commanding Officer with daily/weekly updates as to the office operations, budget, and financial and ongoing business matters. 
  • Assists in departments in budget control and preparation; reviews budget status periodically with department heads; monitors all expenditures and makes appropriate adjustments when appropriate. 
  • Prepare and maintain accounting transactions, including year-end financial reports, as they relate to payables, receivables, bank transactions and entries and ensure accuracy, completeness and complaint.
  • Completes all employment action documentation for Corps employees including but not limited to new hire, background checks, E-Verify, classification changes, and separation, FMLA, and workers compensation.
  • Serves as a liaison with Divisional Headquarters in all finance and business matters when assigned by Commanding Officer.  
  • Processes monthly financial hand-outs and records Minutes for Advisory Board Meetings.  
  • Ensures staff awareness of compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures as well as any HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • In the absence of the Corps Officers, makes Corps decisions on their behalf as needed and within predetermined limits.

 

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Two to three years’ experience performing financial administration and human resources administration, with one-year prior supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.      

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Constant amount of physical effort required associated with hand movement, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, vision, hearing, talking, and sitting at least 90% of the work time; rare to occasional amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching at least 30% of the work time. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires travel to conduct community and home visits.
