Part time Housing Monitor, 28 hours per week, $9.50/hour night shift

Job Summary

Accepts and processes residents staying in a housing facility overnight; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that the housing facility is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Administrative Support / Clerical(10%)

Completes all required dorm logs and records; Compare dorm check-in sheet with front desk check-in sheet.

 

Service Work(70%)

Check out radio at beginning of shift and return radio at end of shift. Note any damage or defect in radio log.

 

Ensure the dorm is clean and in proper order.

 

Check clients into the dorm and complete resident roster.

 

Distribute linens and personal hygiene items and ensure all linens are returned.

 

Assist front desk with any late check-in; escort any late family or female check-ins with security.

 

Make periodic rounds of the dorm areas and monitor resident activity ensuring safety/compliance with house rules.

 

Monitor curfew times for all programs.

 

Record and properly report any unique situations occurring on assigned shift.

 

Ensure all residents are out of the dorm area by the designated time (or their requested wake up time), instructing all residents to collect and return their linens.

 

Remain at assigned post unless making rounds or assisting other staff or security.

 

Provide coverage for the front desk during staff breaks.

 

Maintain order of shower area and accountability of all bath linens.

 

Respond to emergencies in a calm manner and initiate appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 

Other Responsibilities (20%)

Collect and wash all dirty towels and sheets.

 

Ensure all client information is kept confidential.

 

Assist clients in the baggage area.

 

Performs other related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.

 

Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures.

 

Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.

 

Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.

 

Ability to work independently, limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

Education and Experience

HS diploma or GED, AND one-year experience performing job related responsibilities preferred OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.

 

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.)

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a lodge facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
