Assistant Divisional Accounting Systems Manager

Location: Florida Divisional Headquarters, Lutz, FL

Position Type: Regular Full-Time, Exempt

Pay Range: $60,000.00 – $63,000.00/hr

About this opportunity:

Assists with coordinating the annual consolidation of Divisional financial statements. Supervises staff in the performance  of specialized clerical and bookkeeping tasks in the recording and maintenance of precise fiscal records and financial data for the consolidation and General Fund accounts; provides overall supervision of  Accountants in the application of fundamental bookkeeping knowledge and skills to varied bookkeeping tasks such as checking entries, reconciling and balancing accounts, and preparing financial reports; coordinates the preparation and maintenance of records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of Salvation Army financial accounts. Coordinates end-user support and training activities for client/server accounting systems throughout the division. Serves as liaison to IT in coordinating finance related system deployments. Designs, creates, and maintains financial reports at DHQ and Field Units.  Supervises team and provides technical support and instructs accounting personnel in the operation of accounting programs to minimize interruption in production of work and to maximize the quality and timeliness of reports. Provides assistance with Corps and Divisional audits. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Supervises and performs a variety of accounting functions for the consolidation accounts; gathers information needed to perform consolidation rollup, i.e., Year End Audit, Corps Detail, Trust Ledger, and consolidation worksheets for each Corps, Thrift, Boys & Girls Club, Day Care and Area Command in the Division; proofs and audits the consolidation worksheets ensuring accuracy and completeness. Coordinates all activities related to financial applications support.

 

  • Assists with designing, creating and maintaining financial reports at DHQ and Field Units. Monitors the review of Corps Monthly Financial Reporting Packages; ensures accuracy and compliance with The Salvation Army accounting policies and procedures and with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

 

  • Develops and maintains a project management plan, which includes tracking project milestones, objectives and timelines as related to specific accounting system and procedural changes and daily problem resolution. Coordinates with Finance Department senior management and staff to identify areas of business process re-engineering for the purpose of automating and streamlining finance/accounting operations. Acts as liaison to IT for hardware/software requirements and installations for Finance operations at DHQ and field.

 

  • Develops training curriculum of financial applications for DHQ and field. Fields Corps Officer and bookkeeper calls regarding financial reporting, assists Corps with accounting concerns (journal entries, policy and procedure).Provides support, training, and problem resolution assistance for accounting principles, policy, procedures and software to DHQ and Field Unit personnel, as assigned.

 

What we are looking for in you:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or a related field, and five years’ experience preparing and automating progressively responsible accounting reports with extensive experience utilizing a variety of financial computer software packages, additional experience in accounting systems support and project management, preferably in a corporate environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
